Models

I have been struck by the number of Modellers who are interested in Challenge and tugs in general.

If you have built a model of Challenge or Contest and would like to see it on this site please send a photo

via the contact page.

I spotted this beautiful model (above) at IFOS in 2005 But I omitted to get the name of the modeller until

now. The modeller spotted these pictures and contacted us., His name is Andrew Wheatley, he scratch built the model with the help of

Bill Greaves who also helped out on the real Challenge at Marchwood. The model appeared at St Katherines dock in London and has also
won best working tug at the international model boat show in Weymouth. And rightly so too.

The above pictures were sent to us by Mike Barnett and shows a lovely waterline model of

Challenge without the wheelhouse, something Mike says "looks terrible" Mike was a crew member

on Challenge and Contest.

The model above was built by John Boyd who is the son of Frank Boyd, chief engineer on Challenge in the past.

Below are some more pictures of John's tug Challenge and other tugs at the Ramsgate D Day in 2010. Most of
the other models were built by John's brother George and include Contest, Challenge's Sister, and Crested Cock.

all of which took part in the Dunkirk evacuation.
